Welcome to Judith Barnitt Design

Originally from England, I came to New Zealand in 1991 for a holiday. In 1992 I returned and have been here ever since (other than a stint living in Perth)

In 2018 I started making simple bracelets and necklaces using acrylic beads and elastic cord as a hobby to see if I enjoyed it. I found it very relaxing and enjoyed it so much I progressed to using other mediums. I am constantly trying new things and try to create pieces that catch the eye.

I have learnt my jewellery techniques through attending workshops, reading lots of books and watching YouTube!

I create jewellery from my home in Whanganui. My 2 dogs, Digby and Katie, and my cat Geoffrey keep me company in my studio.

I use wire in many of my designs, wrapping, crocheting and weaving to create unique pieces that are comfortable to wear.

Gemstones feature prominently in my designs, but I also use glass, copper, porcelain and stainless steel. My fused glass pendants and earrings are made using my microwave kilns.

At the moment I am working with copper and sterling silver and texturing the metal to create unique pieces.

You can view my work in my studio located at 33 Grey Street, Whanganui

I hope you enjoy my collection
